Motor Vehicle Accidents We Handle

From fender benders that cause hidden injuries to catastrophic highway collisions, Marco handles every type of motor vehicle accident claim in San Antonio.

  • Rear-end collisions

Common in stop-and-go traffic on I-35 and Loop 410, and a leading cause of neck, back and whiplash injuries.

  • T-bone and intersection crashes

Red-light runners and failure-to-yield crashes at busy intersections cause serious side-impact injuries.

  • Head-on collisions

Often caused by wrong-way, drunk or distracted drivers, and among the most deadly crashes on Texas roads.

  • Motorcycle accidents

Riders are often blamed unfairly. We gather the evidence to show what really happened.

  • Rideshare crashes

Crashes involving Uber and Lyft drivers can involve several insurance policies depending on whether the app was on.

  • Pedestrian and bicycle accidents

Walkers and cyclists have little protection and often suffer life-changing injuries.

  • Drunk and distracted drivers

Texting, phone use and drunk driving are leading causes of preventable crashes.

  • Uninsured and underinsured drivers

When the at-fault driver has little or no insurance, your own UM/UIM coverage may help.

Texas Law

How Car Accident Claims Work in Texas

Texas is an at-fault state. That means the driver who caused the crash, and their insurance company, are generally responsible for the losses they caused. Every Texas driver must carry at least 30/60/25 liability coverage: $30,000 per injured person, $60,000 per crash and $25,000 for property damage. In a serious crash, those minimums often fall short.

When they do, other coverage can matter: your own personal injury protection (PIP), uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage, an employer's commercial policy if the other driver was working, or a rideshare company's policy. Finding every available source of coverage is one of the most important things a car accident lawyer does.

Texas also uses a modified comparative fault rule. Insurance adjusters know that if they can shift even part of the blame onto you, they can reduce what they pay. That's why evidence gathered early, before memories fade and video is erased, can make such a difference.

Know Your Case

Common Car Accident Injuries

Some injuries are obvious at the scene. Others, like concussions and soft-tissue injuries, can take days to appear. That's why getting checked by a doctor right away matters.

  • Neck and back injuries

Whiplash, herniated discs and spinal injuries.

  • Traumatic brain injuries

Concussions and head injuries that affect memory, mood and work.

  • Broken bones

Fractures that may need surgery, hardware and months of therapy.

  • Internal injuries

Organ damage and internal bleeding that aren't always visible right away.

  • Burns and scarring

Injuries from fires, airbags and road rash.

  • Wrongful death

When a crash takes a loved one, surviving family members may have a claim.

Compensation

What You May Be Able to Recover

Under Texas law, people injured by someone else's negligence may be able to recover compensation for losses like these. Every case is different, and an attorney can explain what may apply to yours.

  • Medical bills

Past and future treatment, surgery, therapy and medication.

  • Lost wages

Income lost while you recover, plus reduced earning capacity.

  • Pain and suffering

The physical pain an injury causes.

  • Mental anguish

The emotional toll of the injury and recovery.

  • Impairment and disfigurement

    Lasting physical limitations and scarring.

  • Property damage

Repair or replacement of your vehicle and property.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a car accident lawyer cost in San Antonio?

Nothing up front. Marco Crawford Law handles car accident cases on a contingency fee, so you pay no attorney fees unless we recover money for you.

How long do I have to file a car accident claim in Texas?

In most Texas car accident cases, the deadline to file a lawsuit is two years from the date of the crash. Claims involving a government vehicle can have much shorter notice deadlines, so it's important to call as soon as possible.

What if I was partly at fault for the crash?

Texas follows a modified comparative fault rule. You can still recover as long as you were not more than 50% responsible, but your recovery is reduced by your percentage of fault.

Should I talk to the other driver's insurance company?

You can report the crash, but it's best to speak with a lawyer before giving a recorded statement or signing anything. The adjuster works for the insurance company, not for you.

What if the driver who hit me doesn't have insurance?

Your own policy may include uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) and personal injury protection (PIP) coverage. Texas insurers must offer these unless you rejected them in writing.

Do I need a lawyer for a minor car accident?

Not every fender bender needs a lawyer. But if you were hurt, missed work or the insurer is delaying or denying your claim, a free consultation can help you understand your options.

What is the minimum car insurance in Texas?

Texas requires liability coverage of at least $30,000 per injured person, $60,000 per crash for injuries and $25,000 for property damage. Serious injuries can exceed those limits, which is why other coverage sources matter.

Should I see a doctor if I feel fine after a car accident?

Yes. Adrenaline can hide pain, and injuries like concussions, whiplash and internal injuries may not show symptoms for days. A prompt medical visit protects your health and documents your injuries.
